As part of CME’s ongoing effort to migrate our clearing applications from the old Telnet-3270 environment to the more robust
web-based Portal environment, over the next several months, we will convert all users from INFOPAC to Document Direct. This change will be completed in two phases as described below.
Background
Document Direct was implemented by CME in early 2002. Since that time, several firms have adopted it as their primary vehicle
for accessing and viewing CME clearing reports. However, there are a number of users that still use the old 3270 method of
viewing and printing clearing reports - INFOPAC.
Why Document Direct?
Document Direct is a newer and improved version of INFOPAC, which provides users a clearer and more intuitive interface, along with more functionality as follows:
- Routes reports to users' default printers which can easily be managed and administered on the firm's side without having to
rely on CME staff for assistance. Users can print clearing reports from anywhere at anytime.
- Enables users to download reports in several text formats.
- Allows users to change printing properties such as font size and type, as well as page setups.
- Offers additional search functions, such as searching for a word or a phrase, in a specific report or page.
It's important to note here, that Document Direct and INFOPAC are only user interfaces that feed off of the same back-end system. Users have access to all of the same reports they currently have in INFOPAC, therefore, no changes must be made to users' profiles.
Migration Timetable/Training Assistance
Starting Monday, May 3, 2004, we will no longer accept requests to add new users to INFOPAC or new INFOPAC printer set-ups. This means if a user requires
printing a report to a different printer than he/she is currently configured in INFOPAC, he/she will need to access Document
Direct. From Document Direct, the user is able to route print jobs to different printers by changing the default printer
of his/her PC.
Six months later, on Monday, November 1, 2004, the INFOPAC option will be permanently removed form the Telnet-3270 Super-Session Menu. During this time-frame, Client
Management Operations staff will be available to offer training and assistance on the features of Document Direct.
Also please note, that this migration will not have any impact on VPS (Virtual Printing Service), which will continue to be an additional source of accessing clearing reports.
Please contact Ori Lotan at (312) 466-7430, or at olotan@cme.com , for any questions regarding this migration, or if you require training or assistance. Thank you!
